What should I wear?
1. Color Coordination — Palette
Choose a cohesive color palette for the shoot. Opt for colors that complement each other rather than clash. Neutral tones, pastels, and muted shades work well for creating a harmonious look.
2. Outfit Choices — Comfort and Fit
Ensure that outfits fit well and are comfortable. Ill-fitting clothes can be unflattering and may cause discomfort during the shoot.
3. Avoid Logos and Slogans
Steer clear of clothing with prominent logos, slogans, or text, as these can distract from the main subject of the photo.
4. Coordination for Groups — Balance
When photographing groups or families, aim for a balanced look where everyone’s outfits complement each other. Avoid extremes in color and style that could create visual dissonance.
5. Location and Background Considerations — Match the Setting
Consider the location of your shoot when choosing outfits. For outdoor shoots, earth tones and natural colors often work well, while indoor settings might benefit from more vibrant or contrasting colors.
6. Avoid Distractions
Ensure your clothing does not blend into or clash with the background. For example, avoid wearing green if shooting in a park with lots of greenery.
7. Makeup and Grooming — Natural Look
Opt for a natural makeup look that enhances your features without being too heavy. Matte foundations and neutral tones generally photograph well.
8. Hair
Ensure hair is neatly styled. Avoid drastic changes or experimental hairstyles that may not translate well on camera.
9. Final Checklist — Try on Outfits
Test out your chosen outfits before the shoot to ensure they look and feel right.
10. Bring Options
If possible, bring a few outfit options to the shoot for variety and flexibility.
Following these recommendations will help ensure that your photoshoot is visually appealing and that you feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. If you need any additional advice or have specific questions, feel free to reach out!
Will my photos be on instagram?
By participating in the shoot, you are agreeing to allow your images to be posted on my facebook and Instagram pages, my website, and used for any promotions. Please let me know if you are not happy for your images to be on social media.
What if my kids are not ready to photosession?
If your kids aren’t quite ready for the photo session, that’s completely okay! Kids can feel a bit uneasy about standing still and smiling at someone they don’t know. To make things easier, I like to start with some fun games and let them take charge of the session. If they’re not in the mood for the traditional posed shots, we can run around, make silly faces, and just have fun together. I also bring treats to help build trust and hopefully become their favorite “photo lady.” A little snack can make a big difference!
